Switch Lubing & Filming Masterclass

Eliminate scratchiness, stabilize housing wobble, and bag-lube springs for buttery-smooth key travel.

1 Selecting the Correct Lubricant Grade

Use Krytox 205g0 for linear switch stems and bottom housings to maximize smoothness. For tactile switches, prefer Tribosys 3203 applied sparingly to avoid dampening the tactile bump leg feel.

2 Stem Rail Application Protocol

Using a fine size-00 artist brush, paint a translucent layer along both side slider rails of the switch stem. The surface should sheen under light, without leaving visible white globs.

3 Bag Lubing Springs with GPL 105 Oil

Place 60 to 100 springs into a sealed plastic ziplock bag with 10-12 drops of Krytox GPL 105 high-viscosity oil. Shake vigorously for 60 seconds to evenly coat spring coils, completely eliminating spring ping and crunch.

4 Installing Polycarbonate or HTV/EVA Switch Films

Place a 0.125mm - 0.15mm switch film over the bottom housing before snapping the top housing back on. This removes tolerance gaps between housing clips, creating an airtight housing seal and deeper acoustic pitch.
